LARKANA, Oct 2: The death of a five-year-old boy, Sardar Ali Abro, at the children’s hospital of Chandka Medical College (CMC) on Tuesday in a fit of anger beat up and harassed the doctors on duty.
The boy had reportedly consumed kerosene oil on Monday at his home, said Dr Shams Khoso. When he died on Tuesday, his relatives accused the doctors of negligence.
The deceased boy’s uncle, Rafique Abro, and other relatives shouted at Dr Saifullah Mastoi, Mukhtair Soomro and Assadullah Metlo, who were on duty, and also insulted the hospital’s deputy medical superintendent Dr Abdul Sattar Shaikh.
Pakistan Medical Association president Dr Shah Baig Chandio, Dr Afsar Bhutto, director-general of health services Dr Feroz Memon and deputy commissioner Assadullah Abro arrived at the hospital and pacified the boy’s angry relatives.
They set up a four-member committee to probe the cause of his death and said that the final report would be submitted to the relevant authority within the next two days.
