PESHAWAR, Dec 30: The United Municipal Workers Union has planned to protest against the district government for not solving the genuine problems of the town committees’ employees.

The United Municipal Workers Union (UMWU) in a meeting held here on Saturday, decided to stage a sit-in front of the District Nazim office on Jan 4, said a press release issued on Monday.

Rejecting a formula of Rs30,000 instalments to pensioners, the UMWU leaders asked the district government to pay full pension to the former employees who were retired from service during the last two years.

It was extreme injustice with the town committees’ workers that the district government had not paid pension to retired workers, they noted.

Flaying the ban on jobs for the children of the town committees’ employees and abolishing of weekly off-days they urged the district government to solve all problems amicably, otherwise the UMWU would continue protesting until the acceptance of their demands.
