KARACHI: Recounting in five PSs ordered

KARACHI, Dec 30: The Election Tribunal, Sindh, headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim of the Sindh High Court, on Monday ordered the recounting of votes in the five polling stations of the PS-112, Karachi, on a petition of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal candidate, Prof Mohammad Ahmed Siddiqui, against declaring Muttahida Quami Movement candidate Muhammad Shakir Ali as winner.

The tribunal asked the returning officer of PS-112 to submit the ballot papers and boxes of the polling stations 21, 31, 40, 57 and 59, to the Election Commission and directed Election Tribunal’s registrar to be present at the time of recounting.

The tribunal directed the registrar to submit the report of recounting within 15 days. The next hearing of the case would be on Jan 27 2003.—PPI
