Boy recovered, four held in Peshawar police raid

PESHAWAR, Sept 27: Local police have recovered a kidnapped schoolchild and arrested four people over the abduction in Peshtakhara area.

A spokesman for police on Thursday said Shahzad, 8, was kidnapped in Mankrao area on Sept 5.

He said the child’s father, Rana Gul, a resident of Mankrao, told police that his son was on the way to school when kidnappers bundled him into a car and drove off.

“Kidnappers demanded Rs10 million for the child’s release. Police got a clue of their whereabouts and arrested them before safely recovering the boy,” he said.

The spokesman said the alleged kidnappers were Mohammad Shabir, Mir Said, Angoor Shah and Jamal.

Meanwhile, police said they arrested 903 proclaimed offenders and 853 suspected outlaws and seized arms and ammunitions in Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda during the last two weeks.

They said in a statement issued here that 386 proclaimed offenders were arrested in Peshawar, 370 in Charsadda and 370 in Nowshera.

Police said seized arms and ammunitions included 84 Kalashnikovs, 81 rifles, 631 pistols, 140kg explosives, 14,202 detonators, 1,440 dynamites, 8,321 cartridges, 1,119kg hashish, 5kg heroin, 15kg opium, 411 liquor bottles.
