The cancellation comes amidst the tussle between the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and the Government over the implementation of the National Sports Policy-2005.

The AIBA experts were to arrive in Pakistan in December to conduct an IOC Solidarity Technical Coaches Course but the latest decision has cast a shadow over the POA’s future.

“The Pakistan Olympic Association has now received an email dated Sept 26, 2012 from Development Director, International Boxing Association (AIBA) regretting therein that the opportunity of organising a Technical Course for Boxing Coaches in Pakistan this year will not be possible due to the situation of the Olympic Movement in Pakistan,” a POA press release issued here on Wednesday stated.

“The Technical Coaches Course was allotted to Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) by POA with the financial assistance of IOC Olympic Solidarity which was scheduled to be organised in Dec 2012 by PBF.

In this regard, POA approached the Olympic Solidarity to confirm about the availability of experts from the concerned federation while PBF also requested to appoint two experts from AIBA to supervise the course.

The latest development has led to POA President Lt Gen (retd.) Arif Hasan asking Athletics Federation of Pakistan President Akram Sahi to explain his position about his actions which were recently reported as being against the IOC charter.
