LARKANA, Sept 26: The Chandka Teachers Association (CTA) has unanimously agreed to initiate dialogue with the management of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBU) to resolve the matter about relieving orders of Prof Dr Saeed Ahmed Sangi, chairman of the cardiology department.
The issue of banning entry of the professor to the college was also discussed at a general body called by the CTA, a representative body of teachers of Chandka Medical College (CMC), on Wednesday.
A reconciliatory committee led by Prof Dr Zaffar Pirzado was formed to hold talks with SMBBU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Akbar Haider Soomro and the CTA leaders to arrive at an amicable solution of the issue.
Members of the committee include former SBBMU registrar Prof Dr Sikandar Mughal, Vice-Principal of the CMC Prof Dr Sher Muhammed Shaikh, head of the department of forensic medicine Prof Dr Ghulam Qadir Kaheri, head of the department of gynaecology and obstetrics Prof Dr Rafia Baloch, head of the department of paediatrics Unit-II, Prof Dr Khursheed Abbasi, Dr Hifaz Abro, Dr Rajal Das, Dr Inayat Magsi and others.
CTA president Dr Badarudin Junejo presided over the meeting which discussed the mounting tension on the campus and among teachers.
The CTA in a resolution stood by the stay order granted by the Sindh High Court, Larkana circuit bench, to Prof Dr Saeed Ahmed Sangi.
In another resolution, it demanded action against the police guard who had insulted Prof Sangi.
The situation grew tense during the general body for some time when some pro-management teachers opposed the meeting, saying that it was unfair to discuss the issue as the matter was already pending in the court.
