MARDAN, Sep 24: Former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and opposition leader in the provincial assembly Akram Khan Durrani on Monday said he was astonished over the bounty on the head of the blasphemous filmmaker by the ANP Federal Minister Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour.

The JUI-F leader expressed these views while talking to representatives of different media organisations after a public meeting held in Sawaldher area.

He said while one brother was against the Islamists while the other had fixed bounty on the head of sacrilegious moviemaker.

He alleged the followers of “non-violence philosophy” had deteriorated law and order situation across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through their wrong policies.

He said the leaders of ANP promised masses in last general elections to provide free of cost electricity to common man but instead they had not only hiked electricity charges ten times but also gave the gift of long hours loadshedding to them. Mr Durrani claimed that the MMA government’s stance that talks were only solution to the Afghan problem was now being pursued by the US and the Karzai government.

He pointed out that Jamaat-i-Islami was the only hurdle in restoration of MMA alliance as according to him the JI had demanded fifty per cent seats to its candidates in the elections. He said MMA would be restored the day when Jamaat-i-Islami stepped back from its demand.

At the public meeting, chairman of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Dastoor Group, Zahoor Ahmad along with hundreds of his family members and friends announced to quit JI and join the JUI-F.

Mr Akram Durani later visited the Sarhadi Lutheran Church which was set on fire by extremists in the anti-blasphemous film demonstrations on Friday. He assured Christians of their full cooperation.
