TIMERGARA, Dec 29: NWFP Assembly Speaker Bakht Jehan Khan said on Sunday that the provincial government would take measures to solve the problems facing the teachers on a priority basis.

Talking to a delegation of All Teachers Association, Dir Lower, which called on him in Balambat, the speaker said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government was aware of the grievances of the common man and would make efforts to redress them at the earliest.

He said the government would honour the promises it had made with the people during the election campaign by serving them irrespective of their political affiliations.

The delegation, comprising ATA President Shahbaz Khan and others, informed the speaker about the problems confronting the teachers and demanded that the vacant posts of headmasters, subject specialists and teachers be fulfilled in the province after lifting the ban on recruitments.

The delegation demanded that vacancies of women teachers for Islamic studies be restored in the primary schools of Malakand and girl students be exempted from pasting photos on examination forms.

They demanded that Friday be declared as holiday and the untrained teachers be given incentives as per the decision of the court.
