Eight drown in car plunge into canal

SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 20: Eight people drowned in the Lower Chenab Canal near Sangla Hill when their van fell into it on Thursday.

A wagon was on its way to Sheikhupura when its tie-rod broke and it fell into the canal. All eight occupants including two women and two children drowned. They included Ghaffar, Sajid, Bushra Bibi, Qasim, Mahmood and Zahid. The Sadar police are investigating. — Correspondent
