HBL stunned by Afghan FC

KARACHI: Afghan FC came from a goal down to beat Habib Bank Limited (HBL) 3-1 while Pakistan Navy held National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to a goalless draw in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) here on Wednesday.

At the People’s Sports Complex, HBL took an early lead when Asif Masroor struck in the 13th minute but their advantage lasted just 17 minutes as Himmat Khan struck the first of his two goals.

Abdul Khan doubled Afghan FC’s advantage with a goal in the 61st before Himmat completed his brace with a 83rd minute strike to secure all three points for Afghan FC who now have six from three games.

NBP’s draw at the KPT Stadium meant that they are level on points with leaders Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) and second-placed Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) on 14 points but they have player two games more. Navy have nine points from eight games.

KESC, who lead on goal difference, will try to extend their lead at the league summit when they face Baloch FC on Thursday.

ZTBL v Army (Jinnah Football Stadium, Islamabad); KESC v Baloch FC (KPT Football Stadium, Karachi); PIA v Muslim FC (Korangi Baloch Ground, Karachi).
