KARACHI, Sept 19: The Sindh High Court on Wednesday restrained police authorities from arresting or harassing the importer of ‘infected’ Australian sheep.
A division bench headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar also issued notices to the prosecutor general, Malir SSP, SHO of the Shah Latif Town police station and other respondents for Sept 27.
The importer, Tariq Mehmood Butt, moved a miscellaneous application in court and submitted that he was booked in a false case regarding the import of infected sheep by the Shah Latif Town police on a complaint of government authorities. He stated that the police were harassing him and apprehended that he might be arrested.
He prayed to the court to restrain the police from harassing him or arresting him in connection with the case registered by the government with mala fide intentions.
After hearing arguments, the SHC division bench restrained the Shah Latif police from harassing or arresting the petitioner.
