HYDERABAD, Dec 28: The Taluka City Council on Saturday criticized the HDA, Wasa and sanitation department of the council for not ensuring cleanliness in the city, and poor sewerage system.

The members said heaps of garbage could be seen everywhere and gutters were overflowing in the city.

They said officials of the HDA and Wasa had held out verbal assurances but had done nothing to improve the situation.

They said it was the responsibility of civic bodies to ensure cleanliness in the city.

Referring to the greater Paretabad sewerage scheme, the members pointed out that Rs210 million had not be handed over to the HDA for the scheme.

They said the amount would not be given to the HDA till the elected representatives of the area approved the scheme.

They called for an inquiry into the scheme.

The members called for desilting of Nullahs in the winter season so that they could withstand the monsoon rainfall.

Convener Abdul Qadeer Naghar adjourned the session till Monday, with directives to the director general of the HDA and managing director of Wasa to attend the session and respond to queries of the members. None of these two officials attended the Saturday’s session despite directives.

CHALLAN SUBMITTED: The FIA, Hyderabad, on Saturday submitted interim challan against two Hesco line superintendents.

The line superintendents, Mohammad Jamshed and Allah Dino Solangi, were nominated in a case of misappropriation of millions of rupees in the construction and electricity supply work of different villages of Nawabshah.
