QUETTA, Sept 16: Leaders of different political parties and groups called on a delegation of the UN Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances here on Sunday and conveyed to them their views and concerns on the issue of missing persons.

A delegation of the Jamhoori Watan Party (Talal) led by Talal Bugti submitted details about 600 missing persons and shared their reservations with the UN team over disappearance of people and the law and order situation in Balochistan.

Leaders of the Baloch National Voice handed over a list of missing persons, video clips and other documents to the UN working group.

A delegation of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal led by its acting president Dr Jahanzeb Jamaldini briefed the UN officials about disappearance of political activists and other people.

They submitted a list of 52 party leaders and activists killed during the past few years and told the UN team that some government personalities were allegedly involved in incidents of kidnapping for ransom, highway robbery and killing of innocent people.

A three-member delegation of Hazaras led by Sardar Sa’adat Ali Hazara told the UN working group that hundreds of Shias belonging to the Hazara community had died in incidents of targeted killing. They said that an extremist religious group was behind the killing of Hazara people.

Senior leaders of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Rauf Lala, Hamid Khan Achakzai, Nasarullah Zeray and Ahmed Jan discussed with the UN officials the issue of missing persons, dumping of bullet-riddled bodies and target killing of Pakhtuns, Hazaras and settlers in Balochistan.
