Police foil forced marriage bid

LAHORE, Sept 15: The Misri Shah police on Saturday registered a case against a woman for forcing her teenaged daughter to marry a man in his 40s.

According to an FIR lodged by Niaz , Tasleem was trying to forcibly marry her daughter Farzana, 13,  with a nighbour at Ghoray Shah when some people alerted the police. The girl was reluctant to marry but her mother insisted on marriage, threatening her with dire consequences. The police arrested the woman while the would-be bridegroom escaped.

TWO KILLED: Two alleged robbers were killed in an encounter with the police at Suaiy Asal, Kahna on Saturday night.

The police said the crossfire took place some time after the gangsters snatched cash and a cell phone from student Ali Raza near Rorr village, and hid in the village.

DIG (Operations) Rai Muhammad Tahir said villagers and the suspects exchanged fire and the police also reached there and shot them dead. — Staff Reporter
