Two women killed
CHARSADDA, Sept 14: A woman committed suicide while another was gunned down in separate incidents on Friday.
Wife of Alam Zeb shot herself dead at her house in Khashtakhel Prang area. Tajamul, brother of the deceased, told police he heard gunshots in his home and ran inside where he saw his sister lying in a pool of blood.
He said his brother-in-law was on duty at the time of the incident. He said his sister committed suicide but he did not divulge the motives behind the incident.
In the second incident, four men allegedly killed their sister in Uthmanzai area. Ziaullah, husband of the deceased, said his in-laws Dawlat, Amanat, Iqbal and Sheraz, sons of Zamanai, entered his house and opened indiscriminate fire on his wife killing her instantly.
He said the reason for the killing was a minor family dispute. The police lodged FIR and started investigation.—Correspondent
Bodies found in Mingora
MINGORA, Sept 14: Bodies of a man and a new-born baby were found at separate places here.
Body of the man identified as Qasim Jan was recovered from fields near Mingora bypass. The deceased, resident of Aligrama, was kidnapped by unknown persons a couple of days ago along with his car (883).
The kidnappers shot him dead and threw his body in the fields. The relatives had reported the incident in Kabal police station.
In the second incident, body of a new-born baby was found from busy People’s Chowk of Mingora. A large number people thronged the spot to see the body of the baby. The body was laid to rest after identification was not confirmed.—Correspondent
Students hold demo
CHARSADDA, Sept 14: The students of Abdul Wali Khan University, Palosa campus, on Friday boycotted classes in protest against non-issuance of academic certificate of the varsity.
The protesting students said they had completed their two years academic session in the Palosa campus but after the government announcement of establishing Bacha Khan University replacing Abdul Wali Khan University the issuance of their certificates had become controversial.
They said instead of being issued certificates of Wali Khan University they were being given certificates of Bacha Khan University. They regretted that authenticity of their certificates could be challenged as they had studied in Wali Khan University and certificates of Bacha Khan were being awarded to them.
The warned of closing motorway at Charsadda interchange if they were not issued certificates of Abdul Wali Khan University till September 18.—Correspondent
