KARACHI, Sept 14: Another inspirational performance by Mohammad Essa brought another victory for the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) as they blanked the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) in a PPFL match at the KPT Football Stadium here on Friday.

Whenever the former Pakistan international midfielder is on song, the KESC seem to have a spring in their step as it was pretty much evident on Friday as they recorded their third victory in this season’s Pakistan Premier Football League when they defeated the HBL 2-0.

The victory meant the KESC remained unbeaten in their five league matches in the season so far while for HBL it was their second defeat in four fixtures.

Following the 3-0 victory against Navy in their last fixture, the KESC continued in the same vein against the HBL as defender Aurangzaib Baba put them ahead with hardly four minutes on the clock.

Essa capped off KESC’s victory with a 77th minute goal after his side had endured frustration for long periods despite creating some good chances to put the game to rest.

In the other match of the day played at the PMC Football Ground in Faisalabad, Wapda’s perfect start to the season came to an end as they were held by PMC Athletico.

Zulfiqar Shah scored in the 25th minute but a resolute PMC side refused to go down and grabbed the equaliser when Usman struck in the 64th.

Saturday’s fixtures: Afghan FC v Baloch FC (Sadiq Shaheed Football Stadium, Quetta); KRL v Army (KRL Football Stadium, Rawalpindi); KPT v NBP (KPT Football Stadium, Karachi); Navy v PIA (Korangi Baloch Ground, Karachi).
