Missing man found shot dead, sibling still missing
KARACHI, Sept 8: A young man, who had gone missing last week, was found shot dead in the Pak Colony area on Saturday while the whereabouts of his younger brother who went looking for the missing sibling was still not known, police said.
They added that area people spotted the body of Seerat Alvi lying abandoned near Kashmir Imambargah along the Lyari River in the Golimar area.
“The body was later identified by a Martin Quarters resident as his elder brother, who went missing on Sept 6,” said an official at the Pak Colony police station.
“The tragedy with the family is that on Sept 7, Farrukh Alvi, another younger brother of the victim, went out looking for him butdid not return. Today the body of Seerat was found while the fate of Farrukh is still not known,” the official added.
The police said they were unaware of any motive for the killing, but sources in the police told Dawn that thevictim had some activists as very close friends and the murder seemed to be linked with such association.
“The victim worked as a labourer in a small industrial unit of polythene bags in Rizvia Society. Missing Farrukh, too, was employed at a factory of aluminum products and cases of their disappearance were registered at the Jamshed Quarters police station,” said the official.
The victim’s younger brother lodged an FIR (267/2012) of Seerat’s murder at the Pak Colony police against unidentified suspects under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
