Manny, Sid and Diego continue to amuse, entertain as well as amaze us in yet another adventure that rocks the ice age. Each Ice Age movie has fulfilled the viewers with expectations and never failed to make the audience laugh. Ice Age 4, Continental Drift too, though might not be termed as better than the predecessors, does not disappoint, in fact it keeps the door open for another sequel.
History is slowly unfolding as our earth evolves causing mayhem, with all creatures fearing an eminent end. Amid the tremors, landslides and melting of the icebergs, Manny tries to protect his young daughter, Peaches, who is in her rebellious teens.
As the world takes the shape of seven continents Manny, Sid and Diego are separated from the herd by a sudden earthquake and are drifted into the wide and endless ocean on a large piece of broken-off ice.
In these uncharted waters they encounter the pirate ship led by chimpanzee that goes by the name of pirate Captain Gutt.
Captain Gutt and his preposterous crew comprising an Easter bunny, a seal, a tigress called Shira and few other creatures, capture the three protagonists and threaten to kill them.
Continental Drift introduces a few new characters. We get a glimpse of Sid’s dysfunctional family. His Granny is the most likeable and most annoying character of the movie, a little bit like Sid himself. Peaches, Manny and Maggie’s daughter is a stereotypical teenager wanting freedom and independence and making lots of mistakes in the process of learning.
Most of you must be waiting impatiently to meet the beloved characters once again and thankfully the wait is fruitful. — Zahra Hassan
