LAHORE, Sept 7: The Pakistan People’s Party has said the judiciary should also hear the corruption cases of other politicians, including Sharifs, to maintain its impartiality.

The Lahore High Court on Friday restrained the accountability court from proceedings in three corruption references in which PML-N president Nawaz Sharif and his other family members are allegedly involved.

“The judiciary should not show discrimination towards a particular political party or politician. It should not come under influence from anyone,” President Zardari’s media coordinator in Punjab Navid Chaudhry said.

Talking to Dawn, he said the courts should also take up the cases of alleged money laundering of PML-N leaders. “No politician or party should be given benefit,” he said, adding the judiciary should hear the corruption cases across the board.

Meanwhile, PPP Women Wing Lahore president Faiza Malik said the PML-N was running away from holding the local body elections because of the fear of defeat.

In a statement, she said the issue of loadshedding would be resolved before the next general election. She said the PPP would contest the election along with its allies and would also form the next government.
