ISLAMABAD, Dec 26: President General Pervez Musharraf has expressed shock and grief over the act of terrorism on a Church in Daska on Christmas Day, in which three innocent girls were killed and 10 worshippers were injured.
In a condolence message, the President reiterated the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism in every guise.
He said: “Such reprehensible acts are committed by those anti-Pakistan elements who wish to disrupt peace and tranquillity and create dissension among different communities in the country.”
“The Christians are a peaceful community making devoted efforts for the progress and advancement of the motherland,” he added.
The President said that all those responsible for this dastardly act would be brought to book and awarded exemplary punishment. —APP
PM: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has condemned the attack on a church in a village near Daska on Wednesday and expressed the resolve that no effort would be spared to arrest the culprits and award them exemplary punishment, our reporter adds.
In a message, the prime minister sympathized with the bereaved families and expressed his condolences over the loss of precious lives. He said the attack was carried out by those who wanted to foment religious and sectarian strife but the people were mature enough to foil their evil designs. He said every effort would be made to arrest the culprits.
He directed the authorities concerned to provide the best available medical treatment to all those who sustained injuries in the attack.
