LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 4: Speakers at a seminar on Tuesday called upon the heads of government run schools to take practical measures for reviving and boosting scouting activities in their respective institutions.
The three-day seminar on ‘Group Scout Leaders Training’ was arranged by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boy Scouts Association at Government Centennial Model High School for Boys. Headmaster and principals of government middle, high and higher secondary schools of the district were in attendance.
Among others, EDO education Haji Meer Azam Khan, who also holds the office of district scouts commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boy Scouts Association provincial secretary Haji Imtiaz Khan, district secretary scouts Nisar Mohammad Ghaznikhel and member National Scouts Council Haji Ghulam Fakhruddin spoke at the inaugural session of the seminar.
Highlighting the importance of scouting the speakers said reviving and activating the spirit of scouting at school level was need of the hour.
They said scouting was very important for physical, mental and spiritual development of students as it would help make them good citizens and prepare them for the service of nation.
They said scouts always performed their duty to propagate peace and brotherhood besides they helped people in calamities and critical situations. “The activation of scouting activities will help school administrations to maintain discipline in their respective institutions and fulfill the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs of students,” they said.
“The headmasters and principals should become good scout leaders and try their best to aspire the students of their respective schools to take enthusiastic part in scouting activities,” they maintained.
They called for making scouting essential part of students’ education. They added parents and teachers should guide students towards healthy activities, including scouting.
CRICKET TOURNAMENT: First Shaheed Haji Mohammad Azeem Khan Memorial Cricket Tournament began in Begukhel on Tuesday.
Prominent social activists, including Haji Hameedullah Khan, Haji Jehangir Khan and Hameed Khan, inaugurated the sports gala in the presence of game lovers and villagers. A group of youth has arranged the tournament to pay tributes to the services of former nazim and member of Marwat Qaumi Jirga late Haji Mohammad Azeem Khan who was killed by militants in January this year.
In the opening match, Wanda Ameer club beat Naverkhel club.
In the second match, Abdullah club Begukhel outclassed Jehangir club with a heavy margin of runs.
