LAHORE: Pakistan’s discarded wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider is likely to be hit with a harsh punishment by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for his allegations on fellow stumper Kamran Akmal.

“We are reviewing the allegations which Zulqarnain has put on Kamran regarding his involvement in match-fixing cases and we will take a decision in this regard,” PCB Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmad said.

According to Zulqarnain, Kamran has been selected by the PCB despite not being cleared by the ICC.

“Zulqarnain is facing charges of breaching the code of conduct of anti-corruption,” Subhan informed. “He was asked to submit some evidence over his claim against Kamran until Aug 30 but he has failed to do that.”

Subhan added that the series against Zimbabwe, which was due to be held this year, had not been cancelled but deferred to next year because of the series against India which is scheduled to be held in December.

He said the PCB had not yet received any reply from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the proposal to hold at least one match of the tour at Mohali.
