THE provincial government granted police powers to the Frontier Corps for two months under the Criminal Procedure Code of 1898 with immediate effect.

According to a notification issued by the home department, the FC will assist the district administration and police in maintaining law and order.

Another notification said no new permit would be issued for carrying weapons and those already issued would not be extended till further orders.
