ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: During the tenure of the present government, as many as 450 mutilated dead bodies have been recovered and over 1300 persons went missing in different areas of Balochistan. Federal government should take remedial steps to resolve the issue.
This was stated by participants at the launching ceremony of fact finding report on Balochistan by Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on the occasion of International Day of the Disappeared.
Balochistan National Party President, Dr Jahanzeb Jamaldini, while speaking to participants said that people of Balochistan were denied their lawful rights for 64 years due to which they had to start armed struggle.
“Natural gas, extracted from province is being used all over the country but five rivers belong to Punjab. Government created 5,000 jobs for the people of Balochistan but later jobs were given to blue eyed persons. There is no way out and it seems, time of settlement has passed,” he said.
Leader of National Party, Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bazinjo said that after murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti, disappearing of persons started.
“Just like Al-Shams and Al-Badar, used in East Pakistan during late 70s, some forces have been using different groups for the killing of Balochs. Every day 10 to 12 people are being kidnapped for ransom,” he said.
Senator Afrasiab Khattak of Awami National Party said that federally administered area is also suffering along with Balochistan.
War lords, terrorists and State agencies, all are involved in kidnapping of people.
Chairman Baloch Voice, Nasarullah Baloch said that 200,000 people have been displaced from Dera Bugti. Judicial commissions have failed to resolve the issue, he said.
Chairperson HRCP Zohra Yusuf said that there is war like situation in Balochistan. Hazara Community is being killed by Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and now Jamaatud Dawa has also started opening offices in Balochistan.
She said that so far two activists of HRCP have been murdered in Balochistan which shows that commission is under threat.
I. A. Rehman, General Secretary of HRCP said that he was more worried about those children who have lost their parents.
“There is a problem in Balochistan and if we keep silent, one day we and our new generation will suffer,” he said.
