Robberies — routine matter

RAWALPINDI, Aug 30: A goldsmith’s family was robbed of gold jewellery worth Rs3 million and Rs150,000 in cash in Satellite Town, while another family was deprived of foreign currency by three robbers in Gulraiz colony on Thursday, the victims and police said.

In the first incident, a gang of robbers forced their way into the house of Abdul Rehman in his absence in Satellite Town B Block on Thursday and took the inmates hostage.

When contacted Ms Ramzan the mother of Abdul Rehman told Dawn that she along with her grandchildren and daughters-in-law was at home when five persons came.

“They searched cupboards and upturned drawers and stole 50 tolas of gold jewellery besides Rs100,000 in cash, mobile phone and a pistol,” the elderly woman said. —Staff Reporter

In a similar incident, another family was robbed of about 3,000 British pounds and other valuables by three robbers in Gulraiz colony.

Zahoor Hussain, the robbery victim said in his complaint that three unidentified robbers entered his house in his absence.

Police have registered separate cases and started investigation. However none of the culprits has been arrested by the police so far. — Staff Reporter
