ATTOCK, Aug 25: Attock police investigation department has not found a clue to the murder of three police constables at a main railway line bridge on Haro River, despite passing of three years.
A four-member investigation team headed by the then SP Investigation, Raja Hassan Akhtar, now retired, was set up soon after the murder of Basharat Shah, Mohammad Naeem and Mohammad Yaseen, who were killed by unknown gunmen at Haro bridge, on September 6, 2009.
The team investigated all personal links of the deceased, monitored their activities and checked their family history as they believed that it might be a case of personal enmit, police sources said.
Moreover, investigators also observed the absence of a fourth police constable, Sher Mohammad, from duty at the time of the incident.
The head constable was also away from the post at that time. In his preliminary statement to the investigation team, he said he went to the bazaar to purchase grocery items for Iftar at the post, sources said.
However, the incident took a new turn when the district police headquarters received medico-legal report of three constables in March, 2010, showing that they were served poisonous food before they were killed.
Following this disclosure, the team started probe on these lines as it had been established that the assailants had close links with the deceased.
Therefore, the police had obtained details of the people, who were frequently visiting police officials during their postings at Haro bridge police post. Their incoming and outgoing callrecord of their mobile phones were also monitored, sources said.
In the last three years, three district police officers have been transferred but the police team seem unable to solve the case and arrest the culprits.
