KARACHI: Pioneer body of Urdu turns 100

KARACHI, Dec 23: With the beginning of the new year, the Anjuman Taraqqi-i-Urdu will complete hundred years of its formation.

To mark the occasion, the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association, Anjuman Taraqqi-i-Urdu and the Sir Syed University of Engineering have chalked out various programmes to celebrate the century of Urdu development.

The inaugural session and an international seminar will be held on the campus of the SSUET. A meeting in this regard reviewed the progress of various functions, especially the inaugural session and international seminar. Honorary president and secretary-general Ghulam Umar and Mazhar Arif presented the details before the executive committee.

The meeting was informed that invitation cards had been sent to all the delegates and on receipt of their response the participation of eminent writers and speakers would be ascertained.

The meeting was attended by President Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association Zile Ahmed Nizami, honorary secretary Anjuman Taraqqi-i-Urdu Jamiluddin Aali, Mohammad Zakir Ali Khan, Dr Farman Fatehpuri, Brig Sajjad Hussain, Brig Qamarul Islam Khan, Aftab Ahmad Zaidi, Afzaal Munif, Asghar Ali, Prof Mujeeb Zafar, Anwar Hameedi and Syeduz Zafar.—PPI
