Cold wave claims four lives in BD

DHAKA, Dec 23: At least four persons died of cold wave and some others killed in road accidents due to dense fog in the early hours over the last couple of days, especially in the northern parts of Bangladesh.

Due to thick fog, arrival and departure schedules of domestic and international flights to and from Dhaka were also revised.

Budhu Mohammad, a 60-year old man, and Shushil Kumar, 52, were reported to have died of cold in the early hours of Dec 20 in Thakurgaon, a northern district of the country. Two others, Ati Mamud and Mharuddin of Gaibandha, were also reported to have died of cold spell.

In Dhaka, dense fog descended on the country early on Saturday, holding up flights, delaying trains, launches and making driving perilous.

The visibility was so poor that landing and takes off of all scheduled flights were delayed and movement of road and river transports as well as trains was also badly affected.
