Two killed on road
TAXILA, Aug 22: Two people were killed in different road incidents on Wednesday.
In first incident, a speeding dumper hit a motorcyclist, Aabid Mehmood, 23, near Taxila bypass. He was taken to THQ hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The dumper driver managed to flee from the scene successfully.
In second incident, a Peshawar-bound bus, coming from Rawalpindi, crushed Asif Mehmood while he was crossing GT road near Saadat Colony killing him on the spot.—Correspondent
Six arrested
ISLAMABAD, Aug 22: The capital police have arrested six persons from different areas of the city and recovered liquor and weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
According to details, the Ramna police arrested a bootlegger after a recovery of 50 bottles of liquor from him.
Likewise, the Bani Gala police intercepted two persons on suspicion, but one of them was escaped from the scene. During search the police recovered 54 bottles of liquor from the arrestee. The Nilor police also intercepted a man on suspicion at G-10/3 and during his search recovered 50 bottles of liquor from him.
Similarly, Lohi Bher and Margalla police intercepted two persons separately and during search recovered two bottles each from them. Moreover, Nilor police raided two different places in Dhoke Chara which led to the recovery of 650 bottles of liquor.
Koral police arrested a man after recovering a 30-bore pistol from him.—Staff Reporter
