Kashmiri leader released

SRINAGAR, Dec 22: The government of the occupied Kashmir has released the senior vice-chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Bashir Ahmed Bhat, after a year’s detention.

He was arrested by the previous government of the occupied state on Jan 13 this year under the Public Safety Act.

“The court set me free 20 days back in Jammu, but police immediately shifted me to a joint interrogation centre for reasons best known to them,” Bhat said.

He was moved to Srinagar few days back, and then set free late Saturday in Srinagar.

“I will continue to work for Kashmir’s independence,” he said, adding the authorities had no grounds for his detention.—AFP
