Maisam slammed 116 off 175 balls to help Karachi Whites reach 321 in their first innings in reply to Bahawalpur’s 167.
The visitors will begin their second innings on Monday and their first objective will definitely be to wipe out the deficit of 154 runs.
Fahadullah was the other major contributor for Karachi Whites. He made 85 off 144 deliveries.
Rao Wasim, the Dadu wicket-keeper, stole the limelight against Pak PWD at UBL Sports Complex by taking 11 catches, including seven in the second innings on Sunday.
Playing as a guest player, the 21-year-old Wasim’s brilliant work behind the stumps, in only his fourth first-class appearance, set up an exciting finish on Monday as Dadu closed the day on 89 for three in pursuit of a target of 247.
Athar Laeeq, another guest star, was the day’s other hero. He snapped up six for 34 in 19.4 overs as Pak PWD were bowled out for 196 in their second innings. The burly speedster finished with a match bag of 10 for 73.
Athar received good support from Khair Ali, who claimed three for 69.
Meanwhile, centuries by opening batsman Bilal Asad (151) and Test reject Naved Latif (120) enabled Allied Bank Limited (ABL) obtain a huge first innings lead of 252 runs over Multan at Multan Cricket Stadium.
ABL were 410 for six at stumps in response to Multan’s meagre total of 158 with Aamir Hanif (30) and Ata-ur-Rehman (1) at the crease, having resumed at 54 for no wicket.
Bilal and Naved were involved in a fourth-wicket partnership of 181.
