CAP committee extends college admission date

KARACHI, Aug 17: The date for admission to government colleges in the city under the Centralised Admission Policy (CAP) has been extended to Aug 24.

According to Centralised Admission Policy (CAP) Committee Chairman Prof Dr Nasir Ansar, who is also the director-general of colleges in the province, the date has been extended due to the slow process witnessed during Ramazan.

“Although over 80 per cent of placement forms had been sold, the rate of form submission by candidates appeared very low during Ramazan,” he explained.

Giving another possible reason for the slow response from candidates, he said O-Level students were yet to receive their marks sheets. “We had also received requests for an extension in the date,” he told Dawn on Friday.

The college admission process had begun on July 27 and originally it was to continue till Aug 9.

Due to the late announcement of Matric results this year, the CAP committee had not asked for the marks sheets of Matric students, but just a copy of their admit card for verification purpose. However, students from other cities seeking admission to local colleges as well as the O-Level and the technical certificate students are still supposed to submit copies of their marks sheets with the application forms.
