Demos against loadshedding

PESHAWAR, Aug 17: The power consumers of different localities on Friday took out protest processions and blocked roads against prolonged suspensions and shouted anti-government slogans.

The residents of Mattani, Yousufabad, Babo Town, Surizai, Dalazak, Hakeemabad and Mohmand Colony took out separate processions and expressed grave concern over the government failure to ensure smooth power supply to their areas.

The procession taken out from Dalazak Road was led by a former MPA Dr Zakir Shah. He said the local feeder had been connected with the rural area and thus the consumers had to endure up to 18 hours loadshedding.

“We regularly pay the bills and all the consumers have got the power meters installed outside their buildings but even then they are subjected to prolonged power suspensions,” he maintained. He said power tariff was frequently increased forcing the poor people to pay the inflated bills.
