Woman shot dead

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15: A woman was gunned down in capital’s rural area here on Wednesday, police said.

The victim Shariala Bibi, 38, came over to her parents’ house in Madina Colony at Tarnol. After half an hour form her arrival she went outside the house and shortly after the family heard gunshots.

In response they rushed outside the house and found the victim lying in a pool of blood. Later the police were informed and she was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead. The police said that the motive behind the murder was yet to be established and the family yet to be alleged anyone behind the killing. — Staff Reporter

83 suspects held

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15:  The capital police on Wednesday conducted search operation in different parts of the city and arrested 83 suspects who failed to prove their identification, police said.

The search operation was conducted in slum areas, under construction buildings, villages, markets and public places which led the arrest of the suspects who could not produce any document for their identification. — Staff Reporter

Robbers arrested

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15: The Banigala police arrested two robbers with the help of people who along with their other accomplices looted a family of Lehrasab Khan and recovered two 30 bore pistols from them.

The family was on its way home in Chatra Village when the robbers intercepted its car and took away cash and valuables including ornaments from them. In the meantime, some villagers, however, overpowered the robbers and handed over to police for further legal action. — Staff Reporter

Poetical prosing

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15: “We can get prosperity and success only if we follow the lines drawn by the great leaders of independence movement.”

These views were expressed by Nisar Nasik while presiding over the “Muzakira and Mushaira” in regard to Independence Day arranged by Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL). Ejaz Raheem and Amjad Islam Amjad were the chief guests.

Nisar Nasik further said that he has written a number of national songs and he did that out of his love for Pakistan.

English writer Ejaz Raheem said that whatever he is, only because of Pakistan. He added that Pakistan is blessed with a lot of resources by the grace of Almighty God.

“We should develop a mechanism to hunt talent because if talent of our younger generation is channelised we can become a great nation in the world,” he said.

Abdul Hameed, Chairman, PAL said that Pakistan is the materialisation of a dream of national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Quaid-e-Azam made that dream come true. —A Reporter

Car recovered

TAXILA, Aug 15: Police on Wednesday recovered a car stolen from Karachi.

Police also arrested suspected vehicle thief Sajid Nawaz and have registered a case against the accused. — Correspondent
