Robbers on a looting spree

RAWALPINDI, Aug 15: A dry-fruit merchant was robbed of Rs1.5 million by three unidentified gunmen in Banni police area while another person was deprived of Rs60,000 and a laptop computer by three gunmen in Chaklala area, police said on Wednesday.

Sheikh Muhammad Ishtiaq, a resident of neighbourhood Hukamdad complained to the police that he was heading home after drawing Rs1.5 million from Alflah Bank branch Murree road, when three unidentified motorbike riders blocked his way at Imambara road. He said the motorbike riders, one of whom was wearing trouser and shirt pulled out his pistol and forced him to give up the cash bag. He said the culprits fetched the cash bag and escaped from the scene.

Syed Intizar Hussain, a resident of Chaklala lodged a similar complaint with the Airport police saying that he was sitting at his friend’s shop when two persons came there and pulled out their pistols.

He said the gunmen snatched Rs 60,000, a laptop computer and two cell phones from them and escaped from the scene.

The police have registered a case and started investigation.—Staff Reporter
