ENTRANCE tests for public-sector medical colleges in KP are conducted by Khyber Medical University during mid July but issuance of prospectus-cum-admission process is delayed inordinately. As a consequence, private medical colleges become the real beneficiary. Previous practice is being repeated this year also.

They complete their process earlier and hence make money. After their competition of admissions, public - sector medical colleges start their process and those admitted have to pay at both ends in the present era of the financial crunch, where their parents are struggling to cope with basic needs. Whether this is purposefully done or not, it certainly costs students heavily, which merit due attention of relevant authorities being an important aspect of literacy-cum- welfare.
