Haj corruption: SC demands Asghar's inquiry report by Aug 28

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Secretary Establishment to expedite the inquiry of former Inspector General Police of Gilgit Baltistan Hussain Asghar and submit report by August 28.

A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed resumed the hearing of a suo motu case related to alleged corruption in Hajj arrangments in 2010.

During the course of the hearing, an official of the establishment division apprised the bench that Hussain Asghar had reported to the division and a departmental inquiry was underway against him for not complying with the orders.

On this the chief justice directed the Secretary Establishment to expedite the inquiry and remarked if Hussain had reported to the Establishment division then reinstate him and task him to resume inquiry into the Hajj corruption case.
