Democratic govt. to fulfill aspirations of people: CM

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday said the present democratic government will fulfill the aspirations of the people.

He was talking to media during visit to the mausoleum of Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay tribute to him on the 65th Independence Day of Pakistan.

He said democratic governments and dictators had ruled the country during the last 65 years.

Forming coalition governments in the Center and provinces had been envisioned by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who, he said had talked to all political parties with emphasis on importance of the democratic and constitutional government.

Moreover, he said no Hindu family is leaving the Sindh province to settle in the neighbouring country. Whoever leaves, returns after meeting its relatives, he added.

He said President Asif Ali Zardari along with the leaders of political parties including Altaf Hussain, Asfandyar Wali Khan and Pir Pagaro had formed the coalition government in the Center and the provinces.

The Sindh CM said the government will fulfill the promise which had been made to the people.

Furthermore, he said Karachi is the largest city of Pakistan, where thousands of people come and return. No one would have visited the metropolis, if the situation was instable, he added.

He said all will have to work jointly to improve the situation in Karachi.

He said Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) is also part of coalition government and its present leadership is also cooperating with the government.

He said discussion is underway between the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement with regard to Local Government System and soon both the parties would reach agreement in this regard. All other political parties would also be taken into confidence, he added.

Earlier, the Sindh CM laid floral wreath and offered fateha at the grave of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Sindh Ministers, Advisors and high government officials were also present on the occasion.
