LAHORE, Aug 13: Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA) Lahore division president Majid Wazir has said the Punjab government should revert its decision on ‘privatisation’ of 26 colleges and abolition of more than 3,000 posts in these colleges.

Speaking at an Ittehad-i-Asatza meeting on Monday, Wazir said the admission process in public colleges in Lahore was being affected due to political pressure and interference.

He demanded that the government take measures to end political and non-political interference in admission process otherwise college teachers would react.

The PPLA representative said college teachers’ posts should be upgraded and teachers should be given time scale promotion.

He said college teachers, who got promotions and were awaiting postings for the last one year, should be posted immediately.

Ittehad-i-Asatza central president Nazim Hasnain, women wing in-charge Zahida Qazilbash, Dr Tahira Rana, Dr Shaheen Karamat and Tauseef Sadiq were also present.

PU RESULTS: The Punjab University on Monday declared the results of M.Phil Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (two-year programme), semester system, session 2010-12, MBA (Banking and Finance) Evening, semester, session 2009-11, MBA (Insurance and Risk Management) evening, semester, session 2009-11, MSc Agriculture (Plant Pathology) morning programme, semester, session 2004-06, MSc (Honours) Agriculture (Plant Pathalogy) two-year programme (morning), semester, session 2006-08 and BSc (Honours) Agriculture (Plant Pathology) four-year programme (morning), semester, session 2002-06.

PU CLOSED: The Punjab University will remain closed on Tuesday (today) on account of the Independence Day.

Laptops: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the higher education department to include talented boy and girl students of public universities of Islamabad in the laptop scheme.

The chief minister has instructed the higher education department to immediately formulate a strategy in this regard.
