ISLAMABAD, Dec 21 The Election Commission has fixed Dec 31 as the last date for sending postal ballots to the returning officer in the by-elections scheduled for Jan 15.
However, the last date for sending postal ballots by those government employees who have been deputed on the election duty is Jan 7, sources in the commission said on Saturday.
The commission has already announced that by-elections for 11 National Assembly and 22 provincial assemblies’ seats will be held on Jan 15.
The NA constituencies are: NA-25 Dera Ismail Khan-cum-Tank, NA-34 Lower Dir, NA-56 Rawalpindi-VII, NA-74 Bhakkar-II, NA-142 Kasur-V, NA-163 Sahiwal-IV, NA-187 Bahawalpur-V, NA-201 Ghotki-II, NA-216 Khairpur-II, NA-229 Tharparkar-I, and NA-242 Karachi-IV.
By-elections will be held in 14 constituencies of the Punjab Assembly which are: PP-8 Rawalpindi-VIII, PP-44 Mianwali-II, PP-47 Bhakkar-I, PP-61 Faisalabad-XI, PP-103 Gujranwala-XIII, PP-110 Gujrat-III, PP-112 Gujrat-V, PP-142 Lahore-VI, PP-147 Lahore-XI, PP-200 Multan-VII, PP-245 Dera Ghazi Khan-VI, PP-247 Rajanpur-I, PP-266 Layyah-V and PP-295 R.Y. Khan-XI.
The Sindh Assembly constituencies are: PS-10 Shikarpur-II, PS-12 Shikarpur-IV, PS-18 Jacobabad-IV, PS-76 Dadu-VI and PS-86 Thatta-III.
The by-elections will also be held in two provincial assembly constituencies of the NWFP and one in Balochistan. They are: PF-20 Charsadda-IV, PF-67 Dera Ismail Khan-IV, and PB-31, respectively.—APP
