LARKANA, Dec 21: Ashiq Ali Chandio killed his unmarried daughter, Hajul Chandio, and a man, Saddar Chandio, on the pretext of karo-kari here on Saturday night.
Ashiq surrendered before the police after committing the double murder.
The bodies were taken to the Chandka Medical College Hospital by the Waleed police.
COMMANDOS: Some 200 commandos have been deployed on the 56-kilometre-long patch of Indus Highway passing through the district, the DPO, Abdul Sattar Detho, said on Saturday.
He added that patrolling had also been intensified to maintain uninterrupted vigilance on the highway making it safer for the commuters.
The DPO, Larkana, who also chaired a meeting of DSPs of the district, said that 100 additional policemen would be stationed at the 132 police pickets, which have already been established.
The force, he said, would get a special allowance.
He said that new safety measures were necessary in the wake of increased traffic flow on the Indus Highway.
The DPO said that extensive patrolling would also be undertaken along the flood protective embankments with public- police participation.
He said that patrolling would be undertaken after the River Indus waters receded to check the activities of outlaws, adding that it was aimed at plugging the infiltration of outlaws into the city areas.
He said that villagers, who were well acquainted with the conditions of the riverine area, had been included in regular police patrolling parties.
He also said that the DSPs have been instructed to safeguard the link roads connecting to the Indus Highway.
A senior DSP, Syed Sahib Shah, has been made the in-charge of Indus Highway Safety Plan.
