KARACHI, Aug 11: Waqas Haroon made vital contributions with both bat and the ball to help KESC qualify for the 27th Karachi Gymkhana PTV Ramazan Cricket Festival semi-finals with a narrow five-run win over Medicam CC at the KG Ground here on Saturday.
In a low-scoring first of the quarter-finals, KESC mustered a modest 106-9 with Waqas scoring a 46-ball 36 (two sixes and one four).
Medicam CC, in reply, made 101-9 with Jamil Aslam making 33 off 40 balls. Off-spinners Faisal Tahir (3-18) and Rizwan Khan (3-23) were the main wicket-takers for KESC with Waqas supporting well with his occasional off-spin that fetched him two wickets for 17 runs and the Man-of-the-Match ward.
