ISLAMABAD, Aug 9: Employees of Public Service Division (PSD), a wing of Pakistan Museum of Natural History, said the double standards in appointment of workers in their organisation had created a sense of deprivation among them.
Besides, they have also demanded appointment of full time director because according to them ad hocism is the culprit behind all the problems the division is confronted with, Dawn has learnt.
According to documents available with Dawn, at the moment PSD of Pakistan Museum of Natural History is making two types of appointments, one is purely on daily wages and the other on contract. According to daily wages, employees especially security guards have to work seven days a week. If they take off for any reason, Rs400 are deducted from their salary.
On the other hand, the contractual employees not only can avail off but also get yearly increment in their salaries.
An employee of the PSD on condition of anonymity said that during the last two months as many as ten employees have been appointed on contract as well as daily wages. He blamed hiring of acting director for all the unrest prevailing in the division. Employees have requested the authorities concerned to appoint a full time director in PSD.
Director General of Pakistan Museum of Natural History Dr Syed Azhar Hasan while talking to Dawn said that since the government had imposed a ban on regular appointments the department had been hiring workers on adhoc basis.
“If any employee has any complaint, he should directly come to my office and I assure that his issues will be resolved. Besides, I have also constituted a committee to address the issues of employees,” he said. — A Reporter
