PM, Deputy PM discuss political situation, future election plan

LAHORE: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Friday said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will continue politics of reconciliation and the country is making progress with the help of coalition partners.

In a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and PML-Q leader Chuadhry Pervaiz Elahi, who called on him at Governor's House, the Prime Minister said PPP-PML-Q relations were based on mutual understanding.

Both leaders also discussed current political situation in the country and stressed upon steps for the next general elections and for maintaining the alliance of both parties.

The Prime Minister said political parties should work together to tackle challenges faced by the country and the PPP-PML-Q understanding was a precedent in this regard.

Earlier, PPP MPA from Bahawalpur, Shahrukh Malik and Member CEC Badar-ud-Din Chaudhry called on the prime minister.

Shahrukh Malik beriefed about clean drinking water problem being faced by residents of Bahawalpur and called for immediate steps in this regard. The Prime Minister assured of action in this regard and said that he would visit Bahawalpur after Ramazan.

Governor Latif Khan Khosa and PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safadar Warraich were also present in the meetings.
