LAHORE: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said Thursday that the government had made financial arrangements to meet fuel requirement for power generation to reduce loadshedding in the coming days.

He was speaking to PPP and PML-Q Punjab parliamentarians during separate meetings at the Governor House in Lahore.

He said about 2000 MW power losses, due to 18 damaged power lines in Muzaffargarh, were being managed, out of which 350 MW electricity had been restored.

The prime minister said that the level at water reservoirs had arisen due to the ongoing monsoon rains in the country, which would help increase hydel power generation as well.

Talking about the economic situation in the country, he said that the government had adopted practical measures to face this challenge and the condition was improving steadily as foreign remittances stood at all time high today.

The prime minister said that the country was exporting wheat today while it was forced to import the commodity when the PPP-led government came into power in 2008.

He said some people were misguiding the masses regarding the current economic situation.
