CHARSADDA, Aug 1: Local leaders of Pakistan People’s Party here have taken strong notice of burning of pictures of late Benazir Bhutto and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and removing party signboards by Awami National Party workers during their protest against excessive loadshedding.
Speaking at a press conference, they said the despicable act of ANP workers in the presence of its leaders, including their KP-17 constituency president Mohammad Ahmed Khan, general secretary Shah Hussain and district general secretary Qasim Ali, was a clear indication that the ANP was a party of opportunists.
They said that on the one hand the ANP leaders were enjoying government in centre and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on the other its workers had been indulging in despicable acts such as burning of pictures of PPP leaders. They termed the ANP workers’ disregard for its coalition partner an eye opener for the PPP leadership.
The PPP activists also demanded stern action against the coalition party workers within three days. They chanted slogans against the ANP leaders, including Asfandyar Wali Khan.
Meanwhile, ANP leaders Qasim Ali Khan and Mohammad Ahmed have urged the party worker to show decency and political accommodation. —Correspondent
