GOLD COAST: Pakistan under-19 squad scored their second successive win over Australia U-19 here in their second one-dayer at the Kerrydale Oval on Tuesday, cruising home by seven wickets in a convincing all-round display.

Talented young pacer Zia-ul-Haq, who was also named man of the match, bowled superbly to bag three wickets as the hosts, put into bat by Pakistan, were bowled out for a paltry 139 in 43 overs.

Zia was well assisted by fellow pacer Mohammad Nawaz (2-22).

Aussie opener Bancroft (47) and middle-order batsman Tim Head (43) were the only players to resist the Pakistan attack. Pakistan wicket-keeper Salman Afridi was outstanding, taking three smart catches.

Pakistan reached the target for the loss of just three wickets. Imam-ul-Haq (30 not out) and Saad Ali (36 not out) saw the visitors home in the 35th over with an unbroken 52-run stand.—Agencies
