Export deal for surgical equipment

ISLAMABAD, July 30: Pakistani surgical and dental instruments will be marketed in Malaysia under a deal clinched by private sector companies of the two countries.

Pakistan’s Care & Cure and Malaysia’s AM Medicare Sdn Bhd have finalised a deal under which different surgical equipment worth Rs270 million will be sold over the next two years in Malaysia under the brand name of “AM Surgical”, according to Pakistan’s High Commission in Malaysia on Monday.

The deal comes following the efforts of the Pakistan High Commission and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan at the World Health Conference and Exhibition organised by the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on July 17-19.

Pakistan High Commissioner to Malaysia Masood Khalid welcomed the deal and called upon the need to forge similar joint partnerships and business collaborations in the coming days.

He said that Pakistani surgical and dental instruments were known throughout the world for their competitiveness, effectiveness and durability.

Meanwhile, AM Medicare, in a statement, said it was confident it could enhance the AM Surgical brand as its Pakistani partner had the “necessary documentation and expertise” to make it successful in Malaysia.

According to the figures of Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP), Pakistan’s surgical exports stand at $225 million, while the total capital investment in the surgical industry is estimated at Rs20 billion.
