PESHAWAR, July 30: An inquiry committee has completed report on investigations into alleged irregularities in tenders for construction of roads in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa worth Rs1 billion under the Jica project.

According to an official handout issued here on Monday, the report, which has been sent to the chief minister, said that the allegations of irregularities by some contractors was a bid to create hurdles in this important project aimed at bringing improvement in the infrastructure of the province. The report said that the rules and procedure were dully followed in the tender inviting process.

It is worth mentioning here that the Government Contactors Association had alleged irregularities in the tenders of development schemes. Taking notice of the matter, Secretary Communication and Works (C&W) Engr Zahid Arif constituted a two-member high-level investigation committee with immediate effect for conducting impartial probe and presentation of report within a period of two weeks.—APP
