Young doctors’ agitation

LAHORE, July 30: The Punjab chapter of the Young Doctors Association launched an agitation at Jinnah Hospital on Monday to protest delay in notifying the proposed service structure.

A large number of medical officers, postgraduate trainees and YDA activists participated in the agitation. They raised slogans against the Punjab government and the bureaucracy in the health department for not providing service structure to protesting doctors.

Addressing the rally at Jinnah Hospital, the YDA office bearers also demanded provision of free medicines to the patients at the health facility.

They said the government had trumpeted time and again that it had been providing free medicines to the patients at hospitals but the situation was different to that of the government’s claims.

YDA leader Dr Javed said Jinnah’s emergency department was lacking various kinds of life-saving drugs.

The doctors also suspended work for sometimes at other teaching hospitals of the city to put pressure on the government towards their longstanding demand of service structure.
